I am Chris Reeves, and I have spent my career helping students and families navigate the college admission process. Before you learn about what services I offer, let me tell you a little more about who I am.

I am a teacher. I began teaching English twenty-seven years ago. After three years, I began working on a counseling degree instead of another English degree in order to make me a better teacher. After all, how much Shakespeare do you need to know to teach Romeo and Juliet to freshman? Learning more about students while taking counseling classes did make me a better teacher.

I am a counselor. For the last twenty-two years, I have been a public high school counselor, not only specializing in college admissions, but also gaining expertise with teenagers and families. College is one stressful part of kids’ lives, and you can’t fully separate the college search from the personal side.

I am involved in my profession. I have been the President of the Kentucky Association for College Admission Counseling (KYACAC). I have just wrapped up my 3 year term as a Board Director for the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). These roles have not only allowed me to understand the national landscape, but also have allowed me to be part of shaping it. My colleagues and I have contributed to the ethical standards of our own profession.

I have a network. To further drive the point home about my ACAC experiences, I now have friends and colleagues nationwide. These people are experts and influencers in the world of college admissions, both on the high school side and college side. Trust me, being able to text a college about a question is much more efficient and personal than blind phone calls!

I am a mentor. I have taught counseling classes at NKU and Xavier, including career counseling and advanced school counseling. I have had four interns in my office (and all got jobs!). I share my college application camp with anyone who asks. I’m proud of Highlands and Covington Catholic for running camps for their own kids!

I have a podcast. It’s with my great counseling friend from Conner, Joel Ford. It’s a place to express our passion for this profession and to have fun with it. Feel free to Get Schooled by Reeves and Ford anytime!

I am a husband and father. Stepfather just seems too impersonal, but I did get three children the day I married my wife, Jenn. Jake is now 22 and headed to Florida for Law School. Emily is going to be an amazing teacher in about two years. And Lindsey is a junior at Ryle High School.

So why would I take so much of your time to share all that with you? Simple. When a family chooses to work with me, they are getting my experience, my expertise in writing and counseling, my international network, my dedication, my commitment and my passion.
